However, the Airport's policy has always been one of sustainable growth and listening to the views of those people living in the communities surrounding Nottingham East Midlands Airport.
To ensure the local community have a greater say in the activities of the Airport, Nottingham East Midlands has an Independent Consultative Committee. This body meets four times a year and includes representatives from local authorities as well as users of the Airport and organisations representing the interests of local people.
While future Airport growth is vital to the economic wellbeing of the East Midlands region, it is equally important to balance this growth by minimising the impact on the surrounding rural landscape and environment.
Nottingham East Midlands Airport operates a Landscape Strategy covers a wide range of initiatives aimed at integrating the Airport site into the rural landscape and offering open access for the benefit and enjoyment of the local community.
Air and noise pollution is therefore a concern for the local East Midlands community. The Airport will aim to minimise the pollution for surrounding residents, however, it is likely that the airport expansion could have an impact on house prices.
Alternatively, airport development may create more jobs and act as a hub for regular flyers, and so could have a positive effect on the house prices. |
